Shanghai 8hrs 2024 Madness Day 2
On October 6, 2024, the Shanghai 8-Hour Endurance Race concluded successfully at the Shanghai International Circuit. The Madness Racing Team, composed of four members—Stephen Hong, Harry He, Jason Chen, and Kang Zhilong—worked together!
The harsh weather conditions and the slippery track surface posed the most significant challenges in this year’s Shanghai 8-Hour Endurance Race. With heavy water accumulation on the track, the race organizers announced that the start would be conducted behind a safety car. After approximately 10 minutes under the safety car, the green flag was shown, and the race officially began.
Stephen Hong was the first driver for the team in this race, starting in car number 710. He led the 8-hour battle, maintaining the lead position in the GTC class with his excellent wet-weather driving skills. After completing his first stint, Hong handed the car over to Kang Zhilong. This skilled driver showcased his top-tier abilities, advancing steadily and even overtaking some of the GT3-class cars.
Jason Chen then took the wheel of car number 710, consistently pulling away from the competitors in the same class with a stable lap pace. By the third hour of the race, Chen had built a lead of over one minute. After Harry He completed his first stint, Kang Zhilong returned to the track. Although the race was briefly halted due to excessive debris on the track, Kang maintained his rhythm, keeping a competitive pace in the overall ninth position and first in class.
In the latter half of the race, the 710 car unfortunately slid off the track into the gravel due to the wet surface. Fortunately, with the help of track marshals, Stephen Hong was able to get the car back on track. Although they lost several positions, the team’s technicians quickly repaired the car, allowing the team to re-enter the final sprint.
With the combined efforts of Harry He and Jason Chen, Madness Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 performed steadily in the final stages, maintaining their lead in the class.
Ultimately, as the checkered flag waved, the 2024 Shanghai 8-Hour Endurance Race came to an end. Madness Racing Team's car number 710 crossed the finish line first in the GTC class, with Stephen Hong, Harry He, Kang Zhilong, and Jason Chen claiming the class championship trophy together!
In this year’s Shanghai 8-Hour Endurance Race, Madness Racing Team faced every challenge in this high-level Asia-Pacific endurance race with determination, turning setbacks into motivation to claim victory in their class. The team plans to apply the valuable experience gained in this race to future competitions as they aim for even greater success!
