Lamborghini Super Trofeo 2024 – Round 2 Adelaide Race 2

On June 9, the second leg of the annual Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Challenge came to an end at Bend Motorsport Park in Australia. The No. 88 Madness Racing Team performed well, with Jason Chen and Andre Couto taking home the Pro-Am championship trophy for the third time this season. The No. 77 team encountered a difficult challenge and suffered a puncture due to a collision early in the race. Harry He and Stephen Hong regretted not being able to complete Sunday's race.

The second round of the race kicked off at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. Compared with the chaos in the first lap of the first round, the second round was slightly calmer, with all 19 Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 cars successfully completing the start. Jason Chen of Madness No. 88 made a great start, improving four positions and ranking among the top ten in the race. Harry He drove the No. 77 car to stay steady and follow the car formation closely.

Unfortunately, No. 77 car encountered another car blocking the inside line at Turn 1 at the beginning of the race. After the collision, a tire burst. The tire fragments caused damage to the body parts. In order not to cause greater damage, Harry He decided that the car stopped in the buffer zone and had no choice but to withdraw from the race. This also triggered the safety car for the first time in the race, and the No. 7 car that caused the accident was sentenced to pass through the pit area by the race committee.

On the seventh lap of the race, the safety car returned to the pit area and the race restarted. Jason Chen drove No. 88 car and continued to rank second in the class. After the pit stop window opened, the team quickly recalled the No. 88 car crew to make substitutions. Professional driver Andre Couto came on to sprint for the second half of the race.

Couto pushed forward with all his strength after taking over, setting a new personal fastest lap with 1:49.724, surpassing the opponents in front with his speed advantage, and winning the first place in the Pro-Am class. As the race entered the final 10 minutes, Couto continued his hot streak, setting the fastest time in the third section of the track and further improving his best lap to 1:49.664.

When the checkered flag waved, Andre Couto and Jason Chen relied on their tacit cooperation to catch up from behind despite starting at the back of the grid, improving a total of 9 positions. The 88 car crew crossed the finish line in fifth place and once again won the Pro-Am class championship!

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo in Bend, Australia, ended successfully, and the Madness Racing Team continued its excellent performance. From July 19th to 21st, the team will go to the Inje Circuit in South Korea to participate in the third round of the year. The Madness Racing Team goes all out and strives to continue their efforts and challenge for good results in the Korean Grand Prix!
